THE Nannup Community Resource Centre is presenting the first free live simulcast for the year at the Nannup Town Hall on Saturday, February 18, from 7.30pm.
The opera The Pearl Fishers is described as glorious melodies and passionate duets.
Seen through the magic of the romantic imagination of 19th century France, the opera is based on the allure and fascination of the east and composed by Bizet when he was just 24.
The priestess Leïla loves Nadir, a fisherman, but it’s complicated by her vows and by Nadir’s friendship with his romantic rival Zurga and by Nourabad, an authoritarian high priest.
The lovers escape certain death and elope to freedom aided by Zurga, who overcomes his jealousy when he realises that Leïla once saved his life.
The opera will be broadcast live from the Supreme Court Gardens.
People are asked to book at the Nannup Community Resource Centre.
