HAVING won a swag of hairdressing competition awards in Perth and Bunbury, cousins Vanessa and Alexis Scott now have to find room on their trophy collection shelves for their latest trophies from the Australian National Hairdressing competition in Hobart on Sunday, September 20.
Alexis came third in the senior women’s cutting and open men’s catwalk as well as runner-up in open women’s high fashion colour, runner-up in open men’s catwalk (different model) and runner-up in senior men’s cutting.
Vanessa and Alexis also came third in the open team collection.
Both also received certificates of participation for competing.
In the high fashion colour category, Alexis said the 68 models were short listed to eight then whittled down to the winners. “Our models Tegan Murray, Danny Skilton, Daniel Read, Madison Billinghurst, Candice Jones and Geoff Wuff were great.”
To keep themselves on their toes, Alexis and Shana Pscioneri, who also works at Salon de Coiffeur, will compete in the World Skills competition in Perth on November 8. They could go from there to the nationals in Brisbane next year and the winner there will go to the international competition in London in 2011.
Vanessa, Alexis and Shana will also go to Albany for the November 15 colour competition.
Vanessa and Alexis were the only WA girls to score a trophy in Hobart and were still bubbling with pride and pleasure last week.
They were competing against much more experienced and older contestants in the island state, they said.
They thanked local people whose generosity enabled them to go to Hobart.
