PHOEBE Buntain-Barrie and Lawrie Blake-Jones are best friends; they grew up in Nannup, went to the same schools and now have both started work as trainees.

She is 17, was born in Nannup and lives at home with her parents and younger brother and sister.
She completed year 12 last year at Busselton High School doing business studies for years 11 and 12 which gave her the opportunity through the VET scheme to do work experience for a year at Essence Flowers and Gifts in Busselton and a year at the Nannup Kindergarten.
She also worked on weekends at the Good Food Shop in Nannup for about three years.
Phoebe main interest is horse riding, which she started doing when she was only two.
She has her own horse called Joey, who she rides every day and she enjoys competing at pony club.
She also plays basketball in ‘Lawrie’s Team’.
Lawrie is working at the Nannup Community Resource Centre (CRC) and doing a certificate III.
She was not born in Nannup but moved here when she was a baby.
She completed year 12 at Busselton High School doing her TEE in geography, maths, human biology, physical education studies and English and hopes to go to university when she has decided what she wants to do.
Lawrie also has her own horse called Beau, but she prefers to go riding in the bush.
Lawrie also worked at the Good Food Shop for about two years and plays basketball with Phoebe in Nannup and Manjimup.
Phoebe and Lawrie said they were enjoying their traineeships and Phoebe is already learning how to run the library and manage the shire front desk.
Lawrie said she enjoyed working at the CRC and had already written a music review for the next Nannup Telegraph.
She is looking forward to learning how to operate the bank when she turns 18 in a month’s time.
When both girls have finished their year’s traineeships they are planning to work and travel overseas together.
