Boyanup car park continually trashed

24 Jan, 2012 10:00 AM
THE constant trashing of donations left for charities is causing an eyesore in the main street of Boyanup.

Following the removal of the Good Sammies bins from the Hugh Kilpatrick Memorial Hall car park at the end of last year, there is only one receptacle remaining for donations.

The remaining charity bin – from Vinnies – is regularly overfilled, with the surplus being placed close by.

It is at that point that the vandalism occurs.

State manager for the retail section of St Vincent de Paul Organisation in WA Alison Stedman said consideration would be given to the installation of another bin in Boyanup.

“We are looking at putting more bins into country areas, but first need to identify the locations,” she said.

“The council will meet at the end of January to discuss this matter further.”

The manager of Vinnies in Bunbury is appealing for volunteers to come forward, particularly those people who would be prepared to drive the truck for bin pickups in the South West area.

To place donation bins at any location in the area, shire permission must be sought prior to installation.
