Brilliant colour greets visitors

25 Aug, 2010 09:30 AM
BRILLIANT colour greeted visitors to the weekend Nannup Flower and Garden Festival, which this year had a Myths and Legends theme.

The brilliant Phoenix Rising (right) illustrated the theme — and so did other displays.

The event was officially opened to locals on Wednes-day evening by Nannup shire president Barbara Dunnet. Guests toured the town hall display and voted for their favourite thylacine and the entries in the Click-ing the Culture photography contest.

The sun shone on Friday morning as the crowds started arriving.

MASTERPIECE: the Flower and Garden Festival’s town hall display coordinator, Carole Jackson, poses beside Phoenix Rising, created by  local glass artist Athie Chambers. It looks even more brilliant for real — an electric fire creates the effect of flickering flames from which the reborn bird is soaring.
