A LOVE of the works of popular author John Marsden led to Bridgetown woman Helen MacNeil's win in the Bridgetown Post Office's recent "Magic Rainforest" competition.
As part of National Stamp Month, postal manager Clive Penaluna and his team ran a local competition in which anybody who bought the special promotional John Marsden book "The Magic Rainforest" – the basis for a new range of stamps – was entered into a draw for tickets to Bridgetown Repertory's up-coming pantomime production of "Cinderella."
Mrs MacNeil said she was pleased to have won, especially as she was planning to attend the production anyway.
"I like the humour of pantomimes and the fact that it is aimed both at the kids and adults at a level they can both get enjoyment out of," she said.
"I bought the book because I like to buy anything he (the author) writes.
"It started with my children and now I have at least the beginnings of a collection."
Mr Penaluna said National Stamp Month had been running for 10 years and each year the Bridgetown Post Office held a localised competition.
"People love to be part of competitions and this one is a local initiative that also supports the Repertory," he said.
Di Hollett – who plays the prince's companion, Dandini, in the production – said rehearsals had been on since September.
"We also have a lot of new kids in this pantomime – which is great to see," Mrs Hollett said.
"Cinderella" will be staged on December 6, 7 and 8 and then again on December 12, 13, 14 and 15.
Tickets are available from Bridgetown's James the Jeweller on 9761-1182.
