A CRUISE in northern WA has yielded an unexpected and strange photograph for Balingup woman Sandra Hill.
Sandra took some experimental pictures of the sky and sea from the cabin window of the Kimberley Quest 2 in the early morning of June 6.
She thought nothing more of it until after she had returned to Balingup and was checking her photos.
“I thought it was odd the pictures at this time had this weird cloud formation and then a few pictures later the cloud seemed to just dissipate,” Sandra said.
She then opened up another picture randomly, and an object in the top left half of the frame caught her eye.
The object appeared to be a kind of opaque disc studded with lights and was like nothing Sandra had ever seen.
“I still have the original untouched image on my camera. This is the closest thing to a UFO I have ever seen. This thing was up there and I never saw it but the camera doesn’t lie.”
The picture was taken in broad daylight through a cabin window.
The camera was pressed up to the window to get the shot. Water stains can be seen on the window, but nothing is reflected, making it unlikely the object came from inside the cabin.
Sandra said on the day the photo was taken, the weather was clear and the sky was bright. The cloud bank behind which the object is partially obscured was the only cloud around.
The Donnybrook-Bridgetown Mail viewed the original image on Sandra’s camera to confirm it was unaltered.
The Bureau of Meteorology was approached to identify the object, but was not interested in seeing it.
The Department of Civil Aviation was also sent a copy of the picture, but could not identify it. “It’s hard to say what it is — one of those mysteries,” a spokesman said.
