Petition pages stolen

07 Feb, 2012 10:20 AM
NANNUP, like many other South West towns, suffers from inadequate coverage for good communications, especially for mobile phone.

This is an ongoing problem and petitions have been presented at Parliament before, but the recent fires again highlighted the need for better communications.

Lindesay Blackburne-Kane has been organising the current petition calling for improved communications (including mobile phone coverage) in the Shire of Nannup, but unfortunately has had a setback.

The master folder with all the completed petition pages was stolen from his car in Perth on Monday, January 23, so there is an urgent need for everyone to re-sign the petition as it is due to be presented to the Senate in March.

Mr Blackburne-Kane said he was positive he would have a good number of signatures as possible by the end of February.

The petition forms are available to sign in the shire office, the chemist, the bottle shop, Eziway, Nannup Community Resource Centre, BP and Caltex service stations, Blackwood Winery and the Donnelly River Winery.
