NANNUP’S tulips should be at their best for annual Flower and Garden Festival which starts on Thursday and runs till Monday, August 23.
One of the festival highlights is always the floral display in the Nannup Town Hall, and this year it will have as its centrepiece a mythical creation, tying in with the Myths and Legends theme.
The creation — designed by Bridget Waters and the Nannup Flower and Garden Festival volunteers — is sure to be one of the festival drawcards.
Another big highlight will be the thylacine exhibition in the old nursery on Grange Road. There are still lots of stories on sighting of the Nannup tiger so people can visit the exhibition to get the updates.
On Friday there will be a special presentation by WA Museum palaeontology curator Mikael Siversson. His talk Thylacine: Myth or Legend? will be followed by an informal panel featuring local Jim Green and Sid Slee to discuss thylacine sightings.
There will also be a craft and quilt display, historical photographical display, vintage cars, Ulysses bike parade, choir singing, open gardens, sculpture walk, entertainment on Saturday night with Sing for your Supper, Gardeners Day Out on Sunday, Market stalls on the weekend and lots more interesting things.
