DONNYBROOK Football Club players and members have bounced back with their eyes set on a goal of a bigger and better 2012 season.
Having been wooden spooners in 2011, this will be a memory of the past as the three divisions, League, Reserves and Colts show of what they are really made, and lift their game to a higher score.
The AGM on December 13, which was attended by 40 members of the football club, saw some newly elected committee members, who were previously involved in three consecutive premierships, return to the fold.
New office bearers are Rod Atherton (president), David Wedderbern (vice president), Casey Dale (treasurer) and Danica Collins (secretary).
Committee members are Doug Cross, John Cross, Luisa Dale, John Hearman, Lindsay Dale, Peter Oliver, Alan Swarbrick, Frank Wilson and Matt Kendle.
Among the committee are six life members whose wealth of experience will not go astray.
"We need good DFC supporters to assist on sub-committees to keep the ball bouncing towards a successful season," Mr Atherton said.
He said the club is in need of someone to take on the role of publicity officer.
“Someone with journalism skills and experience in newspapers and media,” he said.
Interested parties can call him on 9731 1402.
Mr Atherton said the great response in attendance at the AGM, not only shows the large number who have returned to the club, but the enthusiasm by all to make the 2012 season a success.
"With the three grades struggling for members this year, there is no chance of this happening in 2012, plus with the return of the previously injured players, this will be a boost for the club," Mr Atherton said.
The coach for League is Shane Smith, an ex-Swan Districts player, for Reserves is Justin Galliot, DFC League player, for Colts the coaches are Shane Bolton, DFC premiership player and Lindsay Dale, DFC 200 League game player.
Colts coaches Bolton and Dale organised and supervised an information session at the club on Friday, December 16 at which new committee members and coaches attended.
Mr Atherton said that the enlarged 2012 DFC committee and coaching staff invite all local district players to prepare for a vastly improved season for junior and senior players, and welcome all past and new DFC members.
Training starts in January.
