THE annual Blackwood 24 Darts Tournament proved to be very popular again this year, with 16 teams from Perth to Boddington, Mount Barker to Bunbury, turning up in Bridgetown to take up the challenge in the two day tournament.
The games were split into two grades with some very fanciful names selected by the teams. Duffy’s Nuts were from Mount Barker. The Rat Pack turned up from Perth, while the Kings and Queens graced the tournament with their presence from Fremantle.
The Scorpions were a Harvey and Bridgetown combination team with a sting in their collective tail.
Looking very smart in their black tee shirts, sporting a kiwi bird emblem in white, were the ANZ team members from Australia and New Zealand.
Games coordinator for Andrew White said the tournament was a great success again this year, with a lot of good natured rivalry.
“We have had so much support from businesses from Balingup and Bridgetown with prizes, some small, some large, which helps to make the tournament more competitive,” he said.
“The tournament has been a pleasure to work with and I am looking forward to the 2011 one.”
Winner of the first division was Team Freo followed by The Crew.
In second division, Scorpions”took the place of honour, in a hard fought battle with second place getters, All Bull.
