BRIDGETOWN Junior Football Club celebrated the end of the season on Saturday, September 5, with a dinner and trophy presentation at the Bulldogs Clubrooms.
More than 80 young footballers played in the 2009 season across the grades including Auskick.
Although the Bulldogs did not go through into the finals, club coaches were pleased with the players’ development and improvement throughout the season.
The Bridgetown club also began a program to train and mentor young umpires. Five young players gave up their free time on weekdays to learn how to umpire before putting their skills to use in weekend games. Senior umpire and mentor Mark Kestel said the program had been very successful and other Lower South West clubs were looking at developing similar training programs.
Trophies were presented to the season’s stand-out players.
