DI Smith with a nett score of 71 won the Bridgetown women’s stroke game on Wednesday, June 24.
Kay Walker was runner-up in division one with 79, while in division two it was Beth Daulby on 77
Long putt on pin two was Pam McLearnon, nearest to pin (NTP) three was visitor Steve Parker, NTP nine Denise Nock, NTP 14 Rita Baldock and NTP 16 Pam McLearnon.
Longest putt on pin 18 was Denise Nock and winning the chook’s chip on pin 17 was Beth Daulby.
Best off stick was Di Smith 86.
The mixed stableford game drew a field of 28 21 men and seven women.
All were obviously hardened golfers because they played through heavy rain and squally winds travelling up to 100 kph.
“You didn’t have to be stupid, but boy did it help as we were traipsing around in the wind and the rain yesterday,” said one player, who will remain nameless.
With a very impressive score of 41 points, Ross Smith was declared the winner with Anthony Fullam runner-up on 32 points.
Women’s winner, on a four way countback was Rita Baldock, with Di Smith runner-up over Megan Burvill and Jean Klause.
The men’s best gross score was put up by Dave Winter
In the novelties, NTP 16 was Steve Parker, NTP three, nine and 14 were carried over to next week
Long drive on pin 15 was won by Steve Parker, nearest third shot, par five was taken out by Russell Morris and the long putt on pin 18 was won by Cliff Richings
The monthly mug game will be held at the Bridgetown course on Saturday, July 4, followed by a roast meal cooked by club member Rita Baldock. All will be welcome at $10 per head.
Sunday, July 5, is the date of the Birthday Cup competition at the Manjimup Club followed on July 12 at Bridgetown by the mixed foursomes championships which includes the BDGA mixed foursomes.
