LOCAL lad Milan Kokir was selected for the SWFL colts A section squad in the 2009 Landmark Country Football Championships last week.
The best players from country Western Australia represented their league across three different divisions in the football carnival.
Milan, who joined the Donnybrook Football Club as a junior, has shown some good form recently, getting a regular berth in Donnybrookâs league side and was the only colt selected from the Dons this year.
Milan said he was pleased to be chosen this year.
He missed out on selection last year due to back surgery and he had an excellent carnival, playing in all games of the championships.
He played in three games on Thursday against Avon, Regionals and Kimberley and then the semi-final game versus Avon on Friday.
Having won this game, it put him into the grand final on Saturday tackling the strong Kimberley team.
This proved no obstacle and the South West squad came out on top with Milan contributing two goals and winning plenty of possession in the first half and taking some strong contested marks.
This experience should help him as he develops his game.
It will be a bonus if he wishes to further his football career which he has tasted in the WAFL through the Peel Thunder development and Colts squads.
