BRIDGETOWN Lawn Tennis Club’s women’s A1 pennant team decided to try out some new tactics to dazzle the opposition and win their game.
So they attended their next match in matching shirts and new hats.
The dapper outfits created many comments but did nothing for their wearers’ performance.
The women came a close second to Bunbury and decided that perhaps more practice would be more useful than more fashion.
Bridgetown Tennis Club is reminding members are reminded that the annual Busselton and Boyup Brook Open Tennis Tournaments will be held on the Long Weekend of February 27 and 28 and March 1.
Entry forms are still available at the club.
Bridgetown’s women’s and men’s championships will be held on Saturday, March 6, from 2pm. Players need to register with Mark on 9761 2531 by the preceding Wednesday
The mixed doubles championships will be held on Saturday, April 17, from 2pm. Names also need to be registered with Mark on the previous Wednesday
Social tennis will continue on these days for those not involved in the championships. The Bridgetown annual junior tennis tournament will be held on the weekend of March 13 and 14. Any inquiries or offers of help should go to Tania 97614418.
On that weekend, there will be no social tennis for the adults due to the junior tournament. Inst-ead members have been invited to join Donny-brook Tennis Club for an afternoon of social tennis on Saturday, March 13, from 2pm. Let Mark know if you are interested in car pooling.
For people wanting to learn about tennis, or if you are wanting to get back into tennis after a long break and would like some help, the club offers free coaching. Just call Natalie on 9761 1376 or Mark on 9761 2531 for further details.
The club is asking “do you have a mulberry tree, or do you know someone who does?” It needs donations of mulberries for the annual Easter tournament. Mulberry pies are a popular part of the tournament experience but the club is having trouble getting enough mulberries. If you have, or know of, mulberries that can be picked please either pick them yourself and freeze them in ice cream containers or let Steve know on 9799 3394. Or if you are able to help with picking also ring Steve.
