BOYUP Brook men couldn’t but help play fantastic golf on Saturday, August, 14 when they played for the F.E. Whistler Memorial Bell and the Blackwood Building Supplies trophy.
The course and greens are in great condition, aided by the recent rain, and this was reflected in the scores.
Jock Aird came in with 46 points but was only runner-up.
The winner with a fantastic 47 points was captain Brad Fairbrass.
Club president Ian Mitchell was third with 43 points.
Brad thanked the 12 men who travelled to the State Sand Greens in Wagin, saying it was a great representation of the club.
He also congratulated Jock Aird on winning the Greenbushes open day.
The women played for the Staniforth-Smith trophy (A-grade players )and Inglis trophy (B-grade) — donated by current members Norma Staniforth-Smith and Judy Inglis.
There was a tight competition for the Staniforth-Smith trophy with Merridee Waters winning it with 38 points and Lyn Willett runner-up with 37.
Penny Tweedie swept the field for the Inglis trophy with 40 points. Jenny Aird was runner-up with 35 points.
Sue Wallace was closest to the pin on six and Lyn Jennings won the longest putt on 18.
