BALINGUP Bowling Club is on a winning streak – and set to win the midweek pennants for the Blackwood zone tomorrow for the first time in five years.
Their ambition is now to build the club up and take out both midweek and Saturday pennants.
Club captain Michael Brain said the team had scored points in every round so far and, with two games left to play this week, was unable to be beaten.
They will play Donnybrook in their last match tomorrow.
“We’ve rotated a lot of new players through, they’ve stood up and the experience has been good,” Mr Brain said.
“The future of the club looks really good, it’s the first time in many years we’ve been able to have reserves, which has all added to the strength of the bowling club.
“The success of the club is breeding a new energy within the club; it’s created a lot of harmony and friendly competition, which can only strengthen us.”
Club members attributed the success largely to the club’s hard-won new artificial turf.
Since installing the turf other upgrades have included putting in new seating and dismantling the old shades, extending the rink from a seven rink to an eight rink and installing a new bar.
The next project is slightly larger – they are looking for a sponsor for a new clubhouse.
The club welcomes all new members.
