Jean and Peggy come out on top

02 Feb, 2012 01:45 PM
AFTER two weeks of play in scorching hot conditions, two older Donnybrook Bowling Club members Peggy Miller and Jean Barker proved they could still handle it and came out the winners in the pairs championship with a plus 24.

They will go on to compete in the Blackwood Championship at Pemberton.

Karen Marsh and Nola Blake were runners-up with a plus four.

On the first Thursday in January, Maureen Jackson and June Jones were pleased to win the Salon De Coiffure and Cutting Shed Trophies.

Bet Connell and Margaret Welsh were runners-up.

The following week Nola Blake, Karen Marsh and Kath Bedford were away playing in the Inter League Round Robin, so a social game of scroungers was held at the club.

Maureen Jackson was once again the winner.

The last game of pennants will be played in Pemberton on Tuesday followed by the wind-up luncheon.
