THE under 16 Donnybrook Basketball Association boys competed in the Country Championship in Perth over the weekend in sweltering weather.
The competition consisted of eight teams including Carnarvon, Katanning, Denmark, Margaret River, Harvey, Northam, Bullsbrook and Donnybrook playing against each other over two days.
Donnybrook won all games and made it to the Grand Final against Denmark on Sunday. The Grand Final was a nail biter with the lead changing several times throughout the game.
The boys dug deep to get one point ahead in the last 30 seconds of the game.Denmark fought back, nearly regaining the lead until, in the last seconds of the game, Donnybrook scored a final goal to win by three points.
The boys played exceptionally well as a team, all of them scoring during the competition and motivating each other to keep going in the 41 degree heat.
Daniel Woods was named in the All Star team and and coach Bill Brown was named All Star Coach for their division.
