BRIDGETOWN returned to the winners circle on Saturday easily accounting for Balingup-Greenbushes by 149 runs in the Donnybrook Blackwood Cricket Association.
Batting first on their home ground Bridgetown got off to a solid start thanks to a fine opening partnership of 66 runs between Darren Tassos (62) and Shane Glancy (34).
Tassos then combined with Mitchell Clothier as the pair added 77 runs for the second wicket.Clothier recorded his maiden 50 and highest score of 65 not out.
Clothier and Simon Duncan (44no) then combined for an unbroken stand of 85 for the third wicket as Bridgetown finished on 2/228.
Batting in partnerships is something the team hasn't been able to do in recent weeks but on this occasion it set up the victory for the home side.
Mark Dellasale and Jacob Van Bavel were the wicket takers for the visitors. Balingup-Greenbushes lost wickets at regular intervals and weren't able to put themselves in a winning position as a result.
T Anthony top scored for the visitors hitting 27 as they were bowled out for 79. The highest partnership of the innings was 20 which was cobbled together by the last wicket pairing of youngsters M Daube and J Delasale.
Rick Charles was back to his feisty best snaring 3/17 while Clothier capped off a fine game taking 2/8.
The win sees Bridgetown move to within less than a point of top placed Boyup Brook though Boyup has a game in hand.
At Egan Park Preston Valley eclipsed Donnybrook by 19 runs and moved into third place on the ladder in the process.
In the penultimate round of the regular season Bridgetown host Preston Valley while Boyup Brook is at home to Donnybrook.
