A NANNUP Dorper ewe has given birth to quadruplets, who are all healthy.
Suzie Quatro delivered her four lambs. three male and one female, on March 30.
Remarkably they have not only survived, but have also thrived despite being small and scrawny, especially the female.
There was also the threat of a fox hanging around.
Bron and Matt Rack, from Carlotta in Nannup, were thrilled with the arrivals.
"I don't think quadruplets are common and the odds of survival aren't good. Twins are pretty common and less common are triplets we've never had triplets but lots of twins.
"A few times in the days following the birth I would have to go and pick up a sleeping lamb and take it to Suzie because she'd left one behind. I guess she couldn't count to four," Mrs Rack said.
When the lambs reached one week old the Racks began to think maybe they could all survive.
They opened the gate to the house yard and orchard and encouraged Suzie and her lambs inside so the couple could feed her sheep cubes separately from the rest of the flock.
Suzie settled and also enjoyed the fallen fruit, especially apples, so much so that now they are let in and out and just about every morning they are waiting at the gate.
The lambs were recently tagged, marked, ringed, needled and drenched.
Dorper sheep are shy and don't like getting to close to people, but Mrs Rack was able to get up close enough to photograph the lambs.
