AS part of the centennial celebrations for St Saviour's Anglican Church in Boyup Brook, 70 people gathered at the church on August 22.
Guests came from as far away as Perth and Albany and places in between. Eucharist was celebrated by Bishop Allan Ewing who presented a challenging address, giving those present much food for thought, especially the crisis facing families in Syria.
The crowd then went to the town hall which had been wonderfully decorated by members of the local Mothers Union.
"After a scrumptious three course meal, provided by the Heated Pool Fundraising Committee, we listened to guest speaker Meryon Goode (nee Kent) a former Boyup Brook resident," Boyup Brook Mothers Union member Jan Ritson said.
Mrs Goode spoke on the MU theme for 2013 Come, Listen, Live outlining her active involvement in church and community life, ranging from hospital chaplaincy to support for disabled people.
Mrs Goode was formally thanked by Carole Hester and presented with a Bag of Joy gift in appreciation from the MU members.
Among the visitors were former residents Margaret Rennick, who is the MU diocesan president, Muriel Cross, Don Reid and the Reverend Carol Reid, who enjoyed renewing old friendships.
Local MU branch president Betty Knapp thanked everyone and wished them safe journeys home.
