WORK is progressing quickly on the construction of the Donnybrook Skate Park.
The basic structure of the skate park has taken shape over the past couple of weeks with the sculpturing of the sand base.
The first of several concrete pours took place on April 9.
The skate park is being constructed by Convic Skate Parks P/L, who have recently completed major skate park constructions in Collie and Fremantle.
Council is now starting to plan for the opening event.
While a firm date has yet to be set, the skate park is due to be completed in June.
"Council is looking to form a skate park users group to assist with the opening event and the ongoing management of the skate park," Donnybrook-Balingup Shire chief executive officer John Attwood said.
It is hoped the users group will include local skate board riders together with other interested residents.
Anyone interested in taking park in the users group should contact Council's community recreation team on 9780 4200.
The Donnybrook Skate Park is being funded by the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup together with generous assistance from Lottery west.
When completed, the skate park will feature a state of the art 'street scape' skating facility, suitable for both novice and experienced skaters.
