THE streets of Balingup feature 17 scarecrows poised to welcome visitors, tourists and locals to the upcoming Balingup Small Farm Field Day.
The scarecrows, which have been coming out for big events for the past six years, have been given recycled fashion makeovers for this year's field day.
The 2014 Autumn Collection by designer Lois Black incorporates unusual items of apparel.
The inspiration and theme come from ethnic costumes of the Balkans region, and the clothing incorporates some intricate embroidery, lively colours and artistic flair.
There will be some more serious fashion on display at the Field Day, with wearable art designs from the Bunbury Felting Group, hand-felted and hand-dyed garments from Sally Young Designs and the latest alpaca knitwear from Jalbrook Alpaca Knitwear.
There will be plenty to see and do from children's circus activities to gardening and composting talks and animal pens, as well as market stalls which will turn the Balingup Soccer Oval into a village for the day, live music and interactive displays.
The field day is on April 26 at the oval.
