BOYUP Brook District High School pair Luke Reilly and Georgina Fairbrass recently went to the Grip Leadership Conference, joining students from schools throughout the South West to learn valuable skills about being a student leader.
During the day they attended a session on how to maximise student involvement, where they discussed the problems they faced with student involvement in fundraising and also school events.
Many schools turned out to have similar issues.
With a collective effort they found possible solutions.
They also attended an elective of creating unity at school session where they were taught through the leadership of Nelson Mandela.
"We learnt valuable lessons which can be implemented in our school and will have a positive influence in creating unity and bonds with students," Miss Fairbrass said.
The pair found the conference worthwhile and are keen to implement some of the ideas they learnt.
"We plan to try and increase our bonds with our fellow students and council to maximise our chances of success for the rest of the year," Miss Fairbrass said.
