THINGS heated up at the Green Door Bridgetown at the start of Commonwealth Youth Week.
Di Rayner, who runs the Green Door, said the party was to start the week with a punch.
"We had the popular local teenage band Something's Burning down here setting the beat and the audience and dancers loved it," she said.
"The Dance Party was split into two age groups, 12-14s from 6-8 pm, with the 15 to 17-year-olds from 8-10.30pm, and the party was an alcohol and drug free event run by the Green Door Bridgetown Inc.
"It is good that in addition to being sponsored by the Department of local Government and Communities, our local Stables IGA store has also come on board to help sponsor this program," Ms Rayner said.
Something's Burning is made up of four talented young men who attend Bridgetown High School - lead singer Sam Shepherd, drummer Jacob Kestel, bass player and backup singer Luke Brodie and guitarist Ty Mosconi.
Sam said the thing the band most wanted to do was just play music for people.
"We do of course hope that people like what we play, we would like to take our music as far as we can, we just love playing," he said.
Ty said the group would love to be playing professionally.
"Unfortunately, as all starting off groups, it is a hard job getting known," he said.
"At the moment it is just about mucking around with a group of mates and having a good time."
With the way these young men performed at the Green Door, it is very likely the band name Something's Burning, will be heard in a lot of places besides Bridgetown.
