THE start to the hockey season has so far meant fortnightly treks to Bunbury for the Boyup Brook women's team with scheduled byes and the Easter break.
The Bandits were outplayed by Associates on March 30 when they went down by five goals.
The Boyup Brook team, boasting five junior players, ran hard throughout the game, but were no match for the very experienced and skilful outfit from Bunbury.
Best players were Jodi Nield, Mary-Anne Inglis and young goalkeeper Chloe Thompson-Darke.
The game scheduled against Boyanup on April 13 was played in very hot and oppressive conditions.
Traditionally the matches between the two teams are tough and hard-fought and this one was no different.
Boyanup were first on the board, before young goal sneak Millie Coole scored the first goal for Boyup after a strong team build up.
Boyanup then scored two more goals, before Fleur Mead drew one back for the Bandits.
A well-earned break at half time had both teams regrouping with the Bandits determined to keep working hard and rotating the interchange bench.
Midway through the second half Tara Reid, in her first game for the season, slammed home an equalising goal which put the score at three goals apiece.
Both teams continued the intensity of the game but the clock ran down before any further score was added.
The umpires gave their best player votes to Jodi Nield, Tara Reid and Laura Mead, however all players gave everything they had in trying weather conditions, with the juniors showing very promising signs for the future.
