A `WOOD Spirit Gnome’ lovingly carved by a Donnybrook man for Gnomesville has gone missing from the popular tourist site.
The carving, which is about one metre long and not easy to move, disappeared 17 days after he was placed with his friends there for the public to enjoy.
The sculptor and his family have urged whoever took the carving to return it to its rightful place.
Clair Bedford has appealed to the public to help her return the unique carving using social media.
Gnomesville is a roadside attraction where more than 3000 gnomes have been placed among the trees by visitors, each with their own special message.
Miss Bedford said the “wood spirit gnome” was lovingly carved by her father to be enjoyed by visitors to Gnomesville.
She said 17 days after the carving was placed at the site, it had gone missing.
“The piece of jarrah wood is about one metre long so wouldn't have been easy to move,” she posted on Facebook.
“I guess it is a compliment to dad's creativity that someone would want to have him in their garden, but he was meant to be for everyone's enjoyment.
“I can only hope that the thief or thieves are able to see sense and return him to his rightful place, under cover of darkness if necessary.”
Miss Bedford’s post has had more than 200 shares on Facebook.
