THE Nannup Music Festival is a strong supporter of providing a platform to showcase Indigenous music, especially emerging artists.
This year it will sponsor the Indigenous song of the year, one of the 16 categories in the annual WA Music Industry Association (WAM) Song of the Year.
The WAM Song of the Year is a prestigious song writing competition which has been running for 23 years.
It is open to unpublished WA songwriters of all ages and levels of experience and offers more than $30,000 worth of prizes.
The message for this year "Music talks about mental health, so can you", with the Mental Health Commission of WA once again the presentation partner for the competition and the mentally healthy category sponsor.
This special category allows songwriters to share songs dealing with positive messages relating to mental health.
The competition closes on July 30 and entries can be made at wam.asn.au/songoftheyear.
Nannup band Tank7even won the country music section of this competition last year.
