BOTH the Balingup Fire Brigade and Donnybrook SES received upgraded vehicles last Thursday.
The new fire truck for Balingup has the latest heat protection, including a drop-down heat blanket and burnover blankets.
"It's the latest setup to give crews better protection following recent tragedies," Department of Fire and Emergency Services Lower South West Region area officer Peter Thomas said.
"It's bigger, and has the ability to take more crew on to the fire ground."
Other features of the truck include protective coating on wiring under the truck and steel parts instead of plastic.
The $405,000 unit was funded by the Emergency Services Levy.
State Emergency Service acting district officer Wayne Credaro said Donnybrook was due for a replacement vehicle. "The upgrade will help to better facilitate what they do," he said.
The service will move into new premises in the near future.
Mr Credaro said local volunteer units such as the SES and fire brigades were always seeking volunteers. Anybody interested should contact their local unit.
