THREE Boyup Brook Ambulance Officers recently attended the annual South West Regional Conference in Boyanup.
They enjoyed hearing the keynote speakers from the South West and Head Office, along with an opportunity to engage with St John Chief Executive Officer, Tony Ahern, and other senior management from St John Belmont.
Also present were some of the Regional Community Paramedics including Gary Wilcox from the Blackwood area.
New Volunteers at the Boyup Brook Sub Centre have begun their training as Transfer Ambulance Officers and are proving to be keen and quick learners.
The Centre has also welcomed another new recruit in a support role, to help maintain the Ambulance stock and supplies, and is about to accept a local resident who will be washing the Ambulances on a regular basis.
There are more support volunteer roles available at the sub centre, to train alongside the current volunteers.
These are non-patient contact roles and include Vehicle Maintenance/Mechanic, Sub-centre Maintenance/Grounds person, Events Coordinator and Social Program Organiser.
There is still an urgent need for more new volunteers who could train to become Emergency Ambulance Officers. The main requirement is that you live within 10 minutes of the sub centre to ensure a rapid response to 000 calls.
Please email ambosbb@westnet.com.au or telephone Shelley Bates, Recruitment Officer, 08 9765 1540 or mobile 0428 651 540, or talk to any St John Ambulance Boyup Brook Volunteer.
Full ambulance cover, which includes transport between hospitals, aged care facilities and private homes, is $40. This can save thousands in unexpected ambulance bills.
Please apply for a St John Membership at the Boyup Brook Sub Centre. Permanent Shire residents are entitled to free emergency pick up only.
The office is attended on Thursdays, or inquire by email ambosbb@westnet.com.au, phone 9765 2155 or by mail.
