BALINGUP Progress Association hosted a very successful new residents and volunteers luncheon in Balingup on Sunday July 20.
Over 85 people attended, with many coming from Mullalyup.
The great weather seemed to encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the day.
About 35 new residents were introduced to the benefits of living in the Balingup community.
Representatives from many of the committees, groups and social clubs presented two minute outlines of their activities and welcomed any new members.
Name tags with current street names or organizations made it easy to follow up new neighbors or find out more about an organization which interested visitors.
The day was a great benefit to local groups.
The Balingup and Districts Sport Association provided visitors with refreshments and the Balingup Lions Club cooked a magnificent feast on their mobile barbecue trailer. The menu for the day was salads, barbecue chicken, sausages and steak.
Many new residents who are temporary but working to settle in Balingup permanently in the future chose to come down on this weekend to participate in the day. It was a great opportunity for those residents to see what the community of Balingup is all about and meet the locals.
Many thanks go to the Donnybrook-Balingup Shire for financially supporting this event, the Balingup Progress Association for organizing it and the Balingup Lions for their help on the day.
