WHEN the principal of St Mary’s School in Donnybrook was approached by members of the Lions Club of Donnybrook asking if the school had a wish list and would like to identify any urgent items for consideration, he jumped at the opportunity that was offered.
“We had an antiquated drinking fountain that desperately needed replacing,” Mr Sell said.
“The idea of updating the facility received the support of the school council and plans went ahead to select the most suitable model that would offer a bottle filling spout as well as three separate drinking fountains.”
After the installation of the new refrigerated drinking water fountain, the school organised for the engraving of a plaque which last week was placed above the facility to acknowledge the Lions club’s $1,000 contribution towards the cost.
Mr Sell said keeping in touch with community groups has always been a priority with the school and they were very thankful to be given the opportunity to discuss their needs list in the knowledge that funding would be forthcoming.
“We also appreciate the prizes that lions donate at our annual concert,” he said.
“It’s community giving at its best.”
