AFTER several indifferent weeks of mixed results the Donnybrook Ladies Hockey team have cemented themselves in second place on the ladder, and are looking at a play off this weekend for a place in the A3 grand final.
Emily Graham, 14, led the charge to a three-all draw against Town/Souths on Saturday afternoon with a Best on Ground performance.
She was ably supported by her mother Felicity who continued her stellar year with a great game at inner, and two fantastic goals as well.
It was a great performance by the Donnybrook team, showing passages of play reminiscent of the wins which put them in the top spot on the premiership ladder for much of the season.
The team combined well and had the job in front of them with a young and skilful Town/Souths forward line.
The opposition scored first, 10 minutes into the game.
Donnybrook replied soon after, then followed two more scores from Town/Souths.
Donnybrook had their backs to the wall with a 3-1 scoreline at half time.
To their credit they rallied and their great teamwork and individual skills from many players resulted in a 3-3 draw at the final whistle.
The Grahams took first and second votes at the end of the game - Emily with three, Felicity with two while Mary Clarke at left inner took the final best player vote.
Associates will be Donnybrook's opposition in the second semi-final this weekend.
It promises a tough ask as the girls have not been able to beat them so far this year.
Details will be posted on the Bunbury Hockey Association website for interested spectators.
