SUNDAY will be a big day for fathers all around the country.
But one local dad will be pulling double duty after opening his home to foster children.
Falcon’s Jamie Murphy will celebrate Father’s Day with his seven-year-old twins and two special guests who have been welcomed into the family home by the devoted dad and his wife Belinda.
“It’s very rewarding,” Mr Murphy said.
“Lots of people think about fostering children but never do it.
“We did something about it.”
Mr Murphy said he and his wife decided to look into fostering after seeing a newspaper article about siblings who needed a home.
The pair then underwent a training course and got their Working With Children cards.
In the past year they have provided shelter, love and care to several children needing emergency accommodation.
And while it makes for a hectic schedule for the couple who both work full-time, they wouldn’t have it any other way.
“I can’t believe more people don’t do it,” Mr Murphy said.
“It makes you feel glad you can help.”
