BLACKWOOD men’s team finished off the season with a well-deserved win over Dalyellup on Sunday.
They controlled the game right from the start and came away with the 6-2 win.
Goal scorers were James Morris 1, Jake Lee 2, Charlie Hawkins 2 and Tom Vowels 1.
The Blackwood men’s team have had a great season, with team morale high thanks to a young, fit, side.
Next season promises to be a good one with the younger players having more experience under their belts and lots of determination to go with it.
The Blackwood ladies weren’t so lucky, finishing off their season with a loss against Busselton in Busselton.
They tried hard from the start and had most of the ball in their half with some good passing up to the forwards, who just couldn’t convert - but to Busselton’s credit, their defense was pretty good.
A very lucky break through Blackwood’s defenses saw a Busselton lady in front of goals to put one away. It was 1-nil for the rest of the half.
Blackwood came out in the second half determined to get one back, which they did compliments of Sophie Thomson smashing in a ball from a lovely delivered corner ball from Molly Hawkins.
This evened up the game again and gave Blackwood the momentum they needed.
Not long after, Busselton scored again and then soon after another went in.
Blackwood fought hard and had some great shots on goal but just couldn’t claw their way back into the game. Final score line 3-1 to Busselton.
That’s it for the Blackwood United soccer season. The ladies team finished sixth on the Premier Reserves Ladder and the men’s team also finished sixth in the Championship Men’s Division.
Congratulations to all players on a great season and looking forward to contesting in the SWSA Leauge once again next year.
