THE Donnybrook District High School P&C Football Tipping competition came to a close last week at the end of the 23 rounds of home and away AFL football.
It was a very delighted Shane Stewart who held onto his lead of two points, to take the winner’s prize of $5000 cash. He along with wife Emma and two young sons Patrick and Jack have a major family holiday planned for next year, so the win was a wonderful bonus to what will be an exciting adventure.
Shane finished the competition on 145 points, two clear of DDHS Year 5 student Thomas Anderson. Thomas’s dad Ben Anderson followed on 142 along with Mark Buzzard, Alexis Blackledge and Peter Atkinson.
The football tipping competition is a fundraiser for the school, and brings together many people of all ages from all parts of the country. Some follow the football seriously, whilst others are involved to have a bit of fun and support the school.
Wendy Cain, coordinator of the competition extended sincere thanks to all participants for making the annual fund raiser such an enjoyable and successful event.
Thanks also go to Stacey and Karl at the Donnybrook Post Office for supporting the advertising flyer drop at the commencement of the season, and also to Maria and Angelo Logiudice from Donnybrook News for supporting the publishing of weekly results in the Donnybrook-Bridgetown Mail.
Enjoy following the remaining teams over the final two weeks of the AFL season, and the competition will be back again next year, so keep a look out for details early in the school year.
