THE official opening of the Donnybrook Skate Park is scheduled for October 5.
While the skate park has been operational for some months, the Shire of Donnybrook-Balingup held off on a formal opening until landscaping works had been completed.
Shire chief executive John Attwood said he was excited to see many local youth already using the park.
"The street style skate park has proved hugely popular with local youth since it was opened in July," he said.
"This official opening will provide the shire with an opportunity to formally thank the project partners; skate park builder Convic and Lotterywest, who provided significant funds towards construction.
"It also provides a chance for Skateboard Australia to run clinics and competitions."
The official opening is a free event and will begin at 11am with some skate clinics being conducted by Skateboard Australia.
A DJ will also be on hand to spin tunes and a free barbecue with light refreshments will also be available.
Following the clinics and the official opening, Skateboard Australia will run some skateboard demonstrations and best trick and skateboard competitions.
