THE Blackwood Valley and WA Boutique Wine Show will draw locals, tourists and wine lovers to the Bridgetown Gardens Function Centre this Saturday October 25, from 5pm-7.30pm.
The Show is specifically designed to recognise excellence in boutique Western Australian wineries and promote the outstanding wines produced in the Blackwood Valley Wine Region.
The 2014 judging panel will be led by Rod Properjohn, who has not only received several awards for his contribution to wine education and journalism in Western Australia, but has also had extensive experience judging wine shows during the 39 years he has been a lecturer with the Wine Education Centre of Wines of Western Australia. Mr Properjohn will be assisted by celebrated winemakers Mark Warren of Happs Winery and Josephine Perry of Dormilona.
Wines will be judged prior to the show on October 23 and 24, followed by the Exhibitors Function and Awards Presentation on Saturday October 25, with awards presented to the highest scoring wines from Western Australia and the Blackwood Valley.
Members of the public attending the show will have the opportunity to taste all 277 of the different wines entered for judging, along with delicious canapés and live music – all while taking in the spectacular views of the Bridgetown Gardens Function Centre.
“I believe we are the only Wine Show in Western Australia which presents every single wine show entry at our Awards night and allows anyone over 18 to attend and taste entries at their leisure,” Association Secretary Lyn Metcalf said.
“No-one ever has time to sample all the entries, but it sure is fun trying!” added Association President, Chris Shedley.
Catering will be undertaken by the award-winning Emporium Bistro, with live music by gifted local singer-songwriter Nyanda J.
