BRIDGETOWN Football Club celebrated the end of the season with a mafia-themed cabaret night at the Bridgetown Showgrounds on Saturday night.
Bulldogs stalwart Darren Tassos claimed the club’s best and fairest award for a consistent performance in the league, while fellow veteran Clinton Best was runner up in the award.
The reserves best and fairest was won by Ryan Boni, while best clubman went to Joel Giblett who performed the runner’s duties for both league and reserves this season.
The Terry O’Connor Memorial Award for the best young player at the club went to Fraser Elliot who was able to adapt his game this year to become an integral part of the senior list.
League coach Mick Johns singled out the emergence of the club’s younger players as his highlight of the year, while he praised the durability of Tassos and Best and he commended the work of youngsters including Tom Vowles, Brett Wilson, Carl Karafils and Brent Brody.
Johns said it was up to the younger brigade to take on greater responsibility next season in order for the club to move up the league ladder.
The league finished fifth this season, while the reserves were beaten in the grand final.
