ABOUT 60 Nannup locals and visitors attended the Living Foundation’s 2015 Nannup ‘themed’ Calendar Launch on Tuesday November 25 at the Nannup Community Kitchen.
An authentic African meat dish had been prepared, along with a vegetarian option of delicious pumpkin and fetta bake and tasty fruit crumble for dessert.
This was lovingly served up by a group of jolly volunteers who give up their time and energy each week to help out with preparing, cooking and serving the meals at the kitchen, not forgetting the cleaning up afterwards.
Foundation spokeswoman, Nannup local Louise Furniss, said 200 Nannup and 200 Busselton calendars had been produced to aid in funding a small community in Zimbabwe, Africa. She delighted in picking out various Nannup community members who have generously contributed by advertising in the calendar, joking about their differing personality traits and getting a good laugh from the crowd.
The printing costs for the calendars were taken care of by the advertising, leaving the funds that will be raised from selling the calendar to the Foundation who will embark on new and existing projects in the Zimbabwean community.
Music was provided by local Nannup band The TOFS who entertained the crowd with a range of popular covers, delivering delicate harmonies and sweet blending guitars.
Nannup Community Kitchen is held at the Nannup Bowling Club each Tuesday evening from 5-7pm. The cost is $5 per meal, children under 8 years of age eat for free - definitely well worth a visit if you happen to be in town on a Tuesday evening.
