The WA Labor Party has called for state Transport Minister Dean Nalder to be stood aside from his job while his private business deals are investigated.
Premier Colin Barnett has ordered the probe of his cabinet colleague's private finances after revelations the Transport Minister was the part-owner of a car leasing company, which offers deals to public servants.
As Transport Minister, Mr Nalder oversees the state government's 11,000 strong vehicle fleet.
Opposition transport spokesman Ken Travers said Mr Nalder should be relieved of his ministerial responsibilities while the matter was investigated.
"The investigation must be open, transparent and independent of the Department of Premier and Cabinet and the Premier should ensure that Mr Nalder provides a full public disclosure of all his financial and penuniary interests," Mr Travers said.
Mr Travers added that recent attempts by the opposition to examine Mr Nalder's possible conflicts of interest through the Freedom of Information Act were denied.
