THE 12 magnificent grass courts were full and overflowing as 52 players participated in the Boyup Brook Tennis Club’s annual Smash Cancer event on November 30.
Joining a large local contingent, visitors came from the Bridgetown, Tonebridge, Ringbark and Donnybrook Tennis Clubs.
Instead of a ball fee, players were encouraged to make a donation to the Cancer Council, a cause close to many hearts. A total of $365 was raised from the day.
Club Captain Graham Bergin and Junior Coordinator Lizzie Twigg shared their personal journeys and brought a sense of reality to the fundraising cause.
Plenty of social, but competitive, matches were played and a wonderful atmosphere was created as everyone mingled between sets, enjoying a great spread of afternoon tea and a barbecue at the end of play.
Thanks to sponsor Blossoms Gifts for providing prizes to the players who won the most games across the day.
