BRIDGETOWN swimming club members competed against 201 swimmers from around the region at the South West Region Carnival at Bunbury on Sunday December 7.
The South West Carnival has been running for 13 years and is a great chance for swimmers and parents to catch up with friends from other clubs in the region, and for young swimmers to participate in their first official competitive swimming meet.
All Bridgetown swimmers performed, well with many personal bests.
Indyana Seed won bronze for the 13 year old girls 50m breaststroke with a time of 42.30.
Heidi Elam won silver for the 9 year old girls 50m freestyle with a time of 41.63, and obtained state junior qualifying times for 9 year old girls 100m freestyle with a time of 1.39.17 and 50m backstroke with a time of 48.98.
It was Sarah Jakobson’s first long course meet, and she has qualified to compete at Country Championships.
Coach Graeme Campbell said all swimmers performed very well and their times showed how hard they had trained over winter and spring for this meet.
All swimmers are now back in training in the Manjimup pool, preparing for the Country Championships at HBF Stadium in Perth in early January, where swimmers from country clubs state-wide compete.
Kaiden Richings, who now trains and competes with the Bunbury Swimming Club, continues to impress with his strong swimming performances, including breaking a number of longstanding meet records for 10 year old boys’ events.
