THREE Donnybrook Tennis Club junior players recently played on centre court at Perth Arena during the Hopman Cup - an official international mixed team tennis event of the International Tennis Federation.
Club coach David Simmonds secured the opportunity through Tennis West for Matthew Clark, Josh Emmott and Scott Tuia to play "Hot Shots Tennis" during a break in the Poland versus France fixture on January 9.
Hot Shots is a game just for kids, with smaller courts, lighter raquets and low-compression balls that don't bounce too high.
Players enjoyed watching the singles matches before entering the bowels of Perth Arena to mix it with the International stars backstage, before coming out for their Hot Shots demonstration. France and Poland then resumed the tie with a mixed doubles encounter that saw France win the match, securing the tie 2-1.
