BRIDGETOWN swimmer Kaiden Richings, 10, competed in the WA Country Championships on January 9-11.
The SunSmart Country Championships are a highlight of the Swimming WA calendar, and each year brings Clubs from across the state to compete in Perth.
The 2015 meet involved 33 Clubs and over 360 competitors from all around WA, all trying to become Country Champions.
Richings from the Bunbury Swimming Club broke the state all time record in the Boys 10 years and under 50m backstroke with a time of 34.53.
The 10-year-old also broke three individual country resident records, being the 100m backstroke, breaking the previous record which dates back to 2001, in a time of 1.17.28; the 200m individual medley, breaking the country resident record held since 2001 in a time of 2.45.66 and the 100m butterfly, breaking the country resident record held since 1988 in a time of 1.18.18.
Richings also brought home five gold medals and four silver and gained personal bests in ten of his eleven events.
