Donnybrook-Balingup’s Shire’s second outdoor film for the summer was held under the stars on Australia Day Eve at Donnybrook Amphitheatre.
More than 450 locals and visitors to the region gathered at the beautiful Donnybrook amphitheatre to begin their Australia Day celebrations.
People old and young adorned the tiers of the Amphitheatre with bean bags, picnic rugs and fabulous picnic fare to enjoy the 1982 Australian classic The Man from Snowy River.
The film, based on the celebrated bush poet Banjo Paterson’s The Man from Snowy River, occupies an iconic place in Australian pop culture.
It has become synonymous with stirrups, horses, bare chests, sunsets and mountain ranges.
With financial assistance from Lotterywest again this year, the Shire is able to host four outdoor films.
The next film to screen will be Tracks, the story of a young woman’s 1,700 mile trek across the Western Australian desert, on Saturday February 21 at the Balingup Village Green from 7.30pm.
