One of the two bushfires in Perth's south has flared up on Wednesday morning, with firefighters battling to bring it under control.
The Department of Fire and Emergency is strengthening containment lines with earthmoving equipment near Kerosene Lane, Baldivis.
DFES said at 1pm the fire was stationary, but there were pockets of active fire and lots of hot spots in the area.
With temperatures expected to reach the high 30s and with gusty winds predicted there are concerns from DFES the blaze may flare up again and break containment lines.
A "watch and act" notice was issued at 1pm Wednesday for the eastern part of Leda and western part of Wellard, in an area bounded by Gilmore Avenue, Wellard Road, Millar Road and Mandurah Road in the City of Kwinana.
Homes and lives in the area remain under threat and DFES says people need to get ready to leave or actively defend their homes.
DFES said a number of roads have been closed:
- Mundijong Road between Baldivis Road and Dixon Road
- Johnson Road between Millar Road and GemstoneParade
- Wellard Road between Cavendish Street and Millar Road
- Baldivis Road between Millar Road and Mundijong Road
- Kerosene Lane between Mandurah Road and Jennings Way

One fire started on the eastern side of Baldivis Road and south of Millar Road. A second fire started north of Kerosene Lane, on the western side of Baldivis Road, in the Leda Nature Reserve.
The first fire had burnt through 140 hectares, while the second had burnt through 72 hectares. The cause of the fires is described as suspicious and anyone who witnessed any suspicious behaviour is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
A bushfire advice had been issued for people in the northern part of Cooloongup, north-eastern part of Leda, Parmelia, Bertram and eastern Wellard in the City of Kwinana, and Baldivis in the City of Rockingham.
Motorists should avoid the area and monitor the Main Roads website or call 138 138 for further road closure details.
