DONNYBROOK’S Noneycup Cafe is closed until further notice after water burst through the roof and flooded the shop during an overnight rain storm.
22.8mm of rain was recorded over March 17-18, following a week of rainfall.
Cafe owner Carolyn Hayes said when staff opened up the cafe in the morning, it was like a swimming pool. Water had ballooned in several places in the ceiling, and was hanging from the roof. It soon after burst onto the floor, and staff swept it out.
“The biggest problem is stock losses,” Mrs Hayes said. “The freezers are shut down and we have live marron to dispose of.”
Mrs Hayes said she did not know how long the cafe was going to be shut down.
