Cottesloe Beach was packed on Saturday for a day of sandcastles and fundraising.
The event was organised by Westpac which is the major sponsor of the Surf Life Saving rescue helicopters.
During the morning those on the beach were able to take a break from their sandcastle building to watch the Rescue Helicopter carry out an ocean rescue exercise.
Local Surf Life Saver Matt Wenman said it had been a terrific day.
"I was there shovelling sand all day. I don't know if we broke the world record for number of sandcastles built in one day - but we had a good go and raised some money on the way." he said.
